Happy Birthday Samantha!

My little Sammie turned 4 yesterday. In spite of the ballet drama, Sammie really brings so much joy to my life. Every day, she says "Mom, I love your outfit" even if I'm in a ratty tee and jeans. She is sweet and sassy and I wouldn't want her any other way.

A couple months ago, Sammie scared me by demanding a spongebob party. Luckily she came to her senses and went with a Tinkerbell theme. We invited 7 of her closest friends. My mom helped me throw the party and saved my life. At the party, one of the moms who stayed to help was 9 months pregnant. Sammie told me today "Mary's mom had a very big tummy. But I didn't tell her that--I didn't want to hurt her feelings."

The night before the party I made Sam put together these tissue paper pom poms. It takes a real man to do the job:
Behold the finished product:

These are the fairy skirts for the girls:
The wands for the girls:

When the girls came in, we put fairy dust on their cheeks:

Sammie insisted that she wasn't four until she ate birthday cake:

The darling girls:

Happy Birthday Sammie! I love you. You are God's gift to my world.

  1. What the heck? No spongebob? Brookie you lied to your child and now she'll probably rebel against you and request a goth party for her fifth B-day.

  2. Happy Birthday Sammie!! I can't believe she is 4. The skirts, wands, cake and decor all looked perfect. You know how to throw great parties Brooke!! I bet every girl loved the party.

I wish Kate could have been there. She would have been on cloud nine. She mentions Sammie's name at least once a day. Kate absolutely LOVES her.

  8. SO cute Brooke! You and Sam will have to give me a lesson on how to create those fab tissue paper pom poms. I did not know Sam had it in him!

  9. Cute party...happy birthday, Sammie! I saw Sam at JoAnne's on Friday...now I know what he was up to. Very talented. If that lawyer thing doesn't work out, he's got a future.

  10. Okay--so as much as I'd like to take credit for inventing the tissue paper pom poms--I didn't. They are a kit you buy from Michaels or Walmart---they are Martha Stewart brand. You just assemble them. Somehow I am still such an dummy that I needed Sam to figure out how to put them together but he said they are easy.

  11. It isn't often that I wish for a daughter... but when you said "You are God's gift to my world"- I found myself wishing I had one of my very own.

Happy Birthday Sammie- so glad you went with Tinkerbell.

  15. The poms poms were supposed to be a "team" project, but Brooke abandoned me mid-way through. They were not that difficult, but the directions left a lot to be desired. Jaime, I have an artsy side...I just usually express it in constructing a plate of nachos.

Brooke instructed me to hang them with fishing line, which I discovered is not on the shelves at Harmons, Smith's, or Joanne's. I finally picked it up at Walmart.

I asked Sammie today what her birthday wish was, and she said that she couldn't tell me--"because then it wouldn't come true." Pretty cute.

Brooke put together a great party, and it came in under budget...psych.
