Sick as a Dog

Is there anything less interesting than hearing someone talk about how sick they are?  Indulge me for just a second.  I have been sick for the last three weeks.  Two weeks of a nasty cold.  Then after a friend gave me a Z Pack, I made a quick recovery for a weekend trip to Arizona.  Then I came home and promptly came down with the flu.

In this season of gratitude, I am grateful for AMAZING friends and family who have taken care of me.  I have had the following over the last 48 hrs:

7 layer dip and chips dropped off
Flowers
Lunch from Corner Bakery with a huge Diet Coke (delivered by Corner bakery themselves!)
A blessing from my dad
A box of Andes mint cookies (I was even able to suck these down despite my extremely sore throat)
Another huge Diet Coke today on my doorstep
A friend going to the pharmacy to get my prescription.

You would think I was on my death bed.  I feel very loved.

My mom came and got my kids this morning and I didn't see them all day..The greatest gift of all.

In other news, I read this book and it is the funniest thing I have ever read.  (Even funnier than Bossypants!)  I may or may not be giving it to all my friends for Christmas.  Please, do yourself a favor and get your hands on a copy:

I'm so sorry you're sick!!!! Thank heavens for all of the nice people around you. And thanks for the book recommendation. I need something funny- the last one I read was awful and sad through the whole thing! I'm definitely doing this one next. I hope you feel better soon!

Brooke, don't buy that book for me, just let me borrow it. And the kids were really cute today.

Jelly! I need a DC stat. I'm also sick. Cough, cough.

(Save me, Ashley!)

We've also been sick this week--stomach flu. Luckily it was fairly mild. Kaari did nothing.

I'll steal your copy of the book in December.

Hope you're better soon! As horrible as the stomach flu is, I'm starting to believe a day of absolute misery is better than two weeks of a crappy cold.

Diet Coke will cure you. It's true. I'm so sorry you ate down and out. I'm so glad Linda could get your kids. There is nothing harder than being a nice mommy when you are about to die!

Are. Not ate. Stupid auto correct.

I am so sorry! Seriously, I bet you feel like you will never be healthy again-but you will. That stinks!

I was hoping that you were feeling better in Arizona, glad you were ok there.

Brooke-
I love you and I am sorry that you are sick. However there is NOTHING funnier than Tina Fey and Bossypants. For real- Tina is queen.
love,

I knew we were friends for a reason... I mainline the DC when I start feeling a little sick and it is my go-to drink. People give me crap about it, but I say it helps. I'm feeling a little blah right now... I better up my intake.

I LOVE Mindy Kaling for various reasons, but mainly because she's a brown leading lady (which is a BIG deal) and she is a crack up. I was bent over laughing for 10 minutes after reading about the part when she let herself fall from the high dive.

I'm sorry you've been back-to-back sick! I got that nasty flu as well and a month later I still am getting my voice back and have a slight cough. It's a beast.
