I Love This Kid

Luke is easy to please. I took him to get his hair cut at Cookie Cutters this evening. When our favorite stylist McKenzie finished cutting his hair, she styled it into a mohawk. As he walked over to me, he had the biggest smile across his face. He couldn't contain himself--he was thrilled. He's begging me to let him wear it to school tomorrow--even promised to sleep so careful as not to mess it up!

Luke is such a sweet boy. He makes my life easy. I often say if I had 3 Lukes I would be sitting on the couch full time drinking a diet coke and reading People magazine.

He is very tender-hearted. Last year on his birthday, I got a little teary-eyed telling him about his birth and how special it was to hold my first baby in my arms. He started crying quiet tears and got very embarrassed--he hates to see me cry.

He is also hilarious. He loves to tease me about birds (which I hate) and Spongebob (which I don't hate as much anymore) and a lot of other things. He loves nothing more than playing with friends and he makes friends wherever he goes.

He loves spaghetti (especially from Fazolis), McDonalds, Oreos and Twinkies (basically all junk food) He is the best big brother in the world and is so sweet to Sammie and Ryan. Occasionally I will walk past a room where the kids are playing and I will hear Sammie bossing Luke around and he just takes it--she's preparing him for marriage.

He loves kindergarten, especially recess, and excels at math. He doesn't get that from me. I love that he tells me in my ear the names of the two little girls in his class that he thinks are cute. I volunteer twice a month at his school so I know who they are--he has good taste.

He lives for holidays and truly finds the magic in childhood. I love him more than words can express--he is my "Lukers."

I love this post! When all is said and done - the birthing, the cleaning up after, the taking care of sick babes, etc. - the bottom line is our kids are our greatest joy. I still feel that way after all these years.

I remember when Luke was born and Sam wouldn't let anyone hold him who hadn't "sanitized". It was so cute. He was always so adorable - and a little shy - which made him even more appealing. He's easy going - just like Jon was - and I'm sure he will bring you joy throughout you're whole life.

I love seeing parents brag about their kids. When Luke reads your blog, he will be even more sure of how you feel about him. There's something about the written word.....I think it just lasts longer.

Great post...it really captures Luke's personality. He is a great kid--low maintenance, always grateful, etc. Last Christmas, Luke was thrilled with every present, "Yeah, new underwear!" I have had to take him to the hospital a couple of times, and he is always a trooper and toughs it out.

He has always been very cuddly. When he was two, he would want me to lay on the floor next to him every morning while he watched t.v., so he had someone to cuddle. For some reason, mom was still in bed.

Your Luke is the same age as my nephew...and I totally remember how excited both Ashley and I were to be aunties. I can't believe that they are now old enough for kindergarten!!

That story about how excited he was about his mohawk haircut got ME choked up because I've seen my nephew with that same happy grin when he sees something cool. It has just a bit of shyness to it and it's adorable.

So cute!!!

DAng it, Brooke! I just put my mascara on and I've got tears growing in my eyes. That post was well said. I love Lukers and I don't even know him that well. I feel the same way about my Danny, Colin, and Jakers. I love my boys! Keep up the good mothering! :)

I'm lovin' the faux hawk! So cute. He sounds so much like my Colton. I often wonder what I did to deserve him. It must have been that I agreed to also take my girls! Watch out-before you know it there will be little girls calling and knocking on your door

I forgot two things. First, I LOVE the hair. He has good reason to be so proud.

Second, I love the photo and don't think it's an accident that Sammie's on top!!! By the way, Ryan has a look in the photo that reminds me so much of you.

The picture of Luke's hair is adorable. I actually do like the "do." Luke is growing up soooo fast. I have noticed how plays so well with all the "little" cousins, they love following him around. Kate made him a valentine for Valentine's Day. She can't wait to personally deliver it to him.

I like this kid. Funny, faux-hawks, chases girls, likes spaghetti and recess...this is the exact kid I would have liked when I was his age.

Lucky mom!

I LOVE this post - and I LOVE Luke!! He is an amazing, gorgeous, brilliant kid - and it's not just because he is my first grandchild!! I too have some really special "moments with Luke" - one when he was riding on my lap (I was in a wheelchair shortly after hip surgery) going out of Disneyland. He was tired and snuggly and I too was telling him about how he was the first grandbaby and how excited we were to have him, etc. He listened pretty intently and was so sweet. We'll have to have another sleepover at grandma's house when I get home, Luke!
We (grandpa & I) love you!!
p.s. LOVE the new hairstyle!

Luke was my first baby. People told me I would be surprised by how much I would love my own babies but I wasn't bc I had already felt that for Luke. He is such a good boy and funny and a pleasure to be around. I especially love how nice he is to Charlie. I love that he laughs at my jokes. If we could just get him to stop eating those poo sandwiches!

My oldest is my hardest and my baby the easiest. Sounds we are on opposite schedules. Luke sounds like a sweet boy.
