Disneyland on the Horizon

Our family at Disneyland in 2008

Our family is taking a trip to Disneyland in the near future. I won't tell you exactly when because I don't want to tip off any criminals. Our cabinets are going to be painted while we are away so I'm basically coming home to a new kitchen. I'm trying to talk Sam into blindfolding me as I walk into the house and then ripping off the blindfold so I can scream just like I'm on an HGTV remodeling show. So far--no dice.

I've done a post on Disneyland in the past. Sam loves Disneyland more than he loves me, and I love it too, but I like it in small doses. Last time we went for five days. Yes, you read that right. It dang near killed me and I was hitting the sack at 7:00 pm with the kids every night. This time we are hitting Legoland for the first day and then Disneyland for the next three days. Keep me in your prayers.

So any advice on Legoland? We've never been. Also, I need good food advice for Disneyland. Sammie is obsessed with the princesses so I am taking her and her cute cousin Kate to Ariel's Grotto for the princess lunch one day but I need to know other good places to eat both in the park and outside the park.

Sammie at our gym's princess night with her favorite princess Snow White.

Wanna know the best part of this trip? My friend Liz gave me some brilliant advice. She told me I can rent a jazzy scooter at Disneyland for 35 bucks a day. I'm going to be driving one of these bad boys around each day:

Sam can push the kids in the stroller. No way am I hoofing through the park at 8 months pregnant! So if you see some pregnant lady on a jazzy scooter wearing bad maternity capris with running shoes and gnawing on a turkey leg--it's probably me. Come say hi!

This isn't me but you get the idea!

Brooke,
You will not for one second regret the Jazzy! It was the best thing that happened to my pregnant self. I hope you have a fabulous time and I will be checking back to see what others suggest for food options, as we are going to Disney at the end of the month. You'll have to let me know if you go anywhere you really like!

So so so jealous!! I am trying to convince Josh that Disneyland is so much fun. I hope you have so much fun! And Sammie is going to love the princess lunch. When I went with a group of friends a few years ago, we did that and it was awesome!!

I am so jealous. I have always wanted a jazzy!!

Maybe the cabinet painters will rob you while you're gone. Just a thought.

I have oodles of advice for Legoland, but I'm out of town and only have my phone to type on. Call me before you go.
I like to eat at Daisys diner in toon town. Pizza and salad. There us a good chowder place in California adventure.

Even with the Jazzy how are you going to have the stamina for 4 days of theme parks, especially if you can't go on any of the rides? Will Sam be taking all 3 kids on each ride while you sit and watch?

Just promise us lots of pictures of you on your Jazzy and you with your turkey leg!

Please please please take pictures of you motoring through D-land on a Jazzy!
My favorite place to eat is the Blue Bayou. It's a little expensive for dinner, but not bad for lunch. However, it's very popular and you have to make reservation...but it is DELICIOUS!

Also, check out this site so you know what NOT to do.

How did you find that turkey leg photo? Hilarious! That vision of you on the jazzy reminds me of Newman. (From Seinfeld, not Liz.)

Have fun at the princess lunch. That is shaping up to be something I will never get to do in this life.

Good for you on riding the Jazzy--up to that point I was wondering how you were going to do it pregnant. :)

That will be a fun trip!

Oh, I love Disneyland! I wanted to go there over spring break, but alas, we did not. If you have that jazzy scooter, you will have a great time every second you are there.

Food wise, I recommend the huge corndogs. :)

I second the Blue Bayou. I have only been for lunch and I didn't have to pay, but it was good. The Storyteller Cafe is nice too. It is in the Grand California Hotel kind of hidden away, so it is perfect if you need a place to just relax. It is an actual restaurant where you sit down, but if I remember right, the prices weren't much higher than what you pay for Disneyland fast food. It seems like they may have had a buffet too and characters wandered in here and there.

I think you sort of gave it away with the 8 months pregnant thing. But, criminals are generally not very smart... Have a great time!

We have done the princess lunch twice in Disneyworld and it was really good food! I actually like all the food at Disney--sure it's overpriced and you could pack in your own food--I just like absorbing everything Disney! I have a friend whose family plans their whole day around the restaurants. She had a great suggestion. Find the nice places for lunch where you can sit down for an hour or two and have someone wait on you--it's perfect for the middle of the day when you need a break.
I wish I had thought of a jazzy--the last two times I went to Disney I was pregnant, but only 4 months so I could go on some rides and it wasn't too bad.
Going with kids is so fun though--they love it and it's great to watch them!
