Back to School

Here are some back to school pics of my kids. This is Luke's first day of second grade:

I broke down and blew the wad on the PBK Darth Vader backpack and lunch bag he had to have. I justified it because the poor kid has to wear a uniform every day and the backpack is all he's got:

Sammie's first day of Kindergarten. I shed no tears:

She is obsessed with her glittery pink Converse sneakers. She also refuses to wear the uniform shorts I bought her. Only skirts for this gal:

This year, I found a lady to embroider my kids' names on their backpacks:

Sammie insisted I put a picture of her doing a cartwheel on my blog:

Here are the two kids that are not going back to school much to my dismay:

I don't think he's getting enough to eat.... (Darling "Buster" onesie created by SewSara. Check out her creative blog and shop.)

I'm so sorry you're struggling right now and that this year is shaping up to the worst one for you...that sounds grim. What a blessing to have the gospel and the peace it brings, otherwise you'd have to deal with everything in a worldly way (and that never works).

I love the embroidered names on the backpack. I should see if my mom can do that to Whitney's bag.

Oh Buster, what a chub of cuteness!

I'm surprised the kids are allowed to wear non-uniform type shoes to school, doesn't that defeat the purpose of wearing uniforms?

I'm sorry Brooke. I don't know what's going on, but I hope things get better soon. Let me know if I can help in any way. And Buster's so stinkin' cute & chubby!! Keep smiling Ü

Looks like we've both been oiut of the loop for a while. Prayers for you my blogging friend and if you want to talk, I'd love it. We've had a rough month too.

Wow. Now I feel bad about all of the times I cursed you and that dumb Bachelor Pad post you left up for a month. I take it all back! Forgive me for my ignorance!

I hear you on the year of good and bad. While I'm so glad that we have Mini on the way, and that Lancer still has a good job--this has been a very hard year for us as well. The hardest year since we've been married, actually. I try to keep it all in perspective, but that doesn't mean it isn't tough along the way. You'll pull through. I will stop cursing you, and start sending good vibes your way!

Okay--love that you splurged on Luke's backpack. Good mom. Know when to hold em, know when to fold em.

Love Sammie's shoes. She is my kind of girl.

Love fat Bustard, and his rolls of fat--even on his arms. Man, that kid is tubby, and I want to run off with him.

And, last but not least, that one kid not going to school who causes you all sorts of trouble. Isn't there a preschool you can dump him at?

Hang in there, girl!!

I love it that Sammie will only wear skirts and that she wanted a picture of her cartwheel on the blog! The kids are so dang cute, as each one passed by I thought "oh, that one is the cutest/my favorite." I think I'll stick with Buster as my favorite right now because he looks like the softest thing ever. The older kids look adorable and hip in their converse. Buster's onesie is darling!

I grew sick of buying new backpacks for school last year so I bought the PBK backpack too, not Darth, though. It was backordered so we won't even have it for the first day. I found one at Sears for $7 and it seems like it will be just as durable as the PB one. I guess I've learned my lesson. (I did get Wilkins on it instead of Jackson, so MAYbe it can make it through one more kid, at least?)

I'm sorry that you are having such a hard time! I have no idea what is going on, but I hope and pray that you will find strength. If you need to get away, you can always come explore Michigan! Don't forget about your new kitchen, that and the B man are some pretty good 2010 happenings!

Yeah...if it wasn't for the fancy shoes and backpacks, we could not deal with the uniform. Love the pink glitter shoes.

I hope everything is O.K.....trials really suck. I have no idea of what is going on, but call me if you need a break from it all. I love to squish on Buster or especially Ryan. I know how taxing a 2 year old can be. I hope I can be of any help.

Take care of your cute self. That is the most important thing. The bottom has dropped out of your world, but you still can muster up an amazing post. Good for you!

Remind me at dance to give you directions to the Downeast clearnace center. They have loads of Pottery Barn backpacks and lunch boxes for next to nothing, they just have names embroidered on them already. You either have to unpick the stitching or cover it up, but if you are lucky enough to have kids with fairly popular names, you just find one that already has their name on it. There are always a million Lukes.

Brooke, I'm worried about you! I don't know what's going on, but I hope you and your family are okay.
Buster in his Buster shirt - SO cute! He's chubbier than ever. I totally know what you mean by your baby saving you. The first year of Max's life was one of my worst. It was the one when Micah worked in AZ. Somehow Max was the light I needed then (as hard as babies are). Sounds like Buster is what you need right now.
I'm glad you aren't sad when your kids go back to school. I'm thrilled too, but keep hearing other moms weep about it.

Are you sure you are feeding that baby enough???
I'm very sorry that life is hard...I'm very sorry that you live so far away....I want 2010 to get better for you now!
Take care my bloggy friend and remember the Japanese saying "Fall down seven times, get up eight". I nicked that from another blog I have no original material of my own.

Brooke, we need another gourmet night...it's been too long and we need to all catch up on the summer months. I hope things are looks brighter for you. Yay for chubby, happy babies. When I scrolled by the Buster picture, Lucas said, "Oh, he is SO cute!" Words of wisdom from my 3-yr-old, and I concur!

Brooke, I'm sorry things aren't going well for you right now. I hope things start turning for you soon. If I can help in any way please let me know.

Your kids all look so great in their school gear! Buster is too dang cute, same with Ryan.

Absolutely adorable kiddos! We love you Brooke and your family. I want you to know that I am here for you. Call if you need chocolate or a shoulder to cry on.

Can I just say that Buster looks like a guy that found me on the internet. Luckily Buster has a lot more going for him, like the probability that he will outgrow this stage instead of growing into it.

I thought my kids were chunks! Holy cow!

Your kids wear uniforms? Have them going to a fancy private school??? Clue me in!

Corbin wants uniforms for ease and $$ factor but I love that they get to wear what they want (especially Addy -- it's too fun to dress her up).
