You Know It's Halloween...
when you are pulling through McD's for a huge Diet Coke before 8:00 in the morning.
Here's to all the moms putting on cheesy costumes and heading to school today to help with parties. We are good people.
*this morning when I told Ryan he couldn't have candy for breakfast, he told me to "keep an open mind." What the?
Happy Halloween Friends!

Maybe you should remind him to "keep an open mind" when you suggest an earlier bedtime? Hope you survive your day!
Well, we did the parade and party on Friday. At first I thought it was stupid but, as the room mom, I'm thrilled that I don't have to do it today! I have a friend who stops for a DC from McDonald's every morning. It has to be in a foam cup in order for the ice to last longer though. Happy Halloween.
Um, I know I'm alive if I'm getting that diet coke before 8 am... I don't understand why you think this is just a Halloween thing?!?!? :)
I would love to take your kids to Halloween school activities and you can come to work for me... yes?
I've resorted to drinking my DC in a mug at all times of the day so my two-year-old stops asking for "Coke?". It's one of the 8 words he says. Sad.
Ha! I had mine at about 10, so I'm slightly more respectable than you. (But not by much). And I had no parties I was helping at...I'm just addicted.
Brooke--
How does having a Diet Coke first thing in the morning make Halloween any different than most mornings for you?
Stay thirsty my friend!
Also, while you were going through McD's I hope you rewarded yourself with one of their "tasty" McRib sandwiches!
Greg,
It was too early in the morning for the McRib..I have some standards.
I did get their oatmeal which is really really good. YOu should try it.
I can't believe I am saying this, but I actually miss ALL those many Halloween days at Elementary school...costumes, parades, games, treats, pictures...being a room mom every year for all three of my girls....it seemed hectic and overwhelming at the time, but now I sincerely miss it! Enjoy it all you can, you'll be in my shoes before you know it!!
To finish the story about Ryan and "keeping an open mind"--I was taking him and Buster into MickyDees for lunch and he told me he wanted pancakes for lunch because his mommy wouldn't let him have them for breakfast. . .I didn't know he had originally asked for candy. Believe it or not, I was able to get him the pancakes for lunch (my McDonald's has them all day!!)and grandma aims to please!!
This post is so timely. We were taking a little bike ride today and I rode over a littered McDonalds bag with some gnarly fries strewn on the ground and I started wailing to Chuche how it's been for-e-ver since I've had any McD's. ...But a McRib? In the AM? Please, Greg. That's vulgar.
Mom,
The reason I didn't buy the kid pancakes is because he had already had homemade waffles at home. I did buy him a sausage patty.
This morning he wolfed down a king sized twix while I was busy getting my big kids ready for school. The candy is a nightmare.
I didn't get my "fix" until 1:00. I was dragging all morning at the two parties I helped with.
What can you expect? He was born of two lawyers. Everything can be negotiated.
LOVE Ryan's comment. So funny!!
