Girl's Day
Sammie and I spent all day together running errands, getting my eyebrows waxed, shopping, etc. I have said it before but I will say it again. She is God's gift to my world. I love my boys more than I can express (they are my three lovey-dovey snuggly boyfriends who say "I love you mom" and kiss me all day long.) But Sammie is different. She isn't lovey dovey and isn't quick to hug. You have to earn her affection. But today as we were walking down the mall, she took my hand and it made my heart leap.
She cracked me up all day talking about how this was a "girls' day" and how she can't wait for our girls' trip we are taking this week with my mom and my sis-in-law and neice. She mentioned that on our girl trip we aren't going to eat any boy food. We are only going to eat girl food like salads.
I had to run my ipad into the Apple store to get it fixed. Don't get me started on the workers in there...that is a post for another day..WOW. Basically my little boys have ruined the area on my ipad where you plug the charger in. On the way home, Sammie said "When they grow up and get ipads, you need to go to their houses and ruin their chargers...that is what I call PAYBACK." What the? Scary right?
Anyhoo, she is so fun. I am so excited to have the same kind of relationship with my daughter that I have with my mom. Speaking of my mom, Linda would have been proud with Sammie's shopping stamina today...Five hours on her feet going from store to store...that's my girl!

That is a fantastic picture. I am starting to love the bangs.
Brookie Jr. is good people. I bet she can't sleep on the eve of the norstrom sale. I'm laughing at the payback bit after our conversation tonight.
P.S. I'm happy for Sammie's sake that my boys and I are not headed down there this week, you know, to eat hot dogs and the like.
You're training her well! It's a gift that you can have a "mini me" as a partner in crime.
I love girls days. They are so fun. You're showing her right.
All moms need a "mini-me" She is so much like you!
Your bangs look great in that photo. I am jealous of your cute sprinkling of J Crew model freckles. If there was a way to makeup that one, I would do it to myself.
Anyway, I have not mentioned it but this seems like an appropriate time. Andrew (my 6 yr old) is under the impression he may one day marry Sammie. He saw me read a post about her and wanted to know about that cute girl who could read and do cartwheels. He hasn't forgotten.
You are so lucky to have a daughter. I sort of think it is perfect that she is the only one. She may not have liked sharing that role. And it would be hard to be her little sister--so much to live up to! I would love to have a girl, but I think I will have to adopt my little Claire from a foreign country after my 5th boy.
How fun. Your posts about Sammie make me smile. What a cute little sassafras she is!
I AM so proud!! Everyone recognizes that she is definitely "mini-Brookie!" BTW - she actually held my hand going downstairs tonight - for about two seconds and I,too, was thrilled!
And Alexandra (love your name)tell your cute little Andrew that I'm rooting for him, but he will have to "get in line." One Sunday Brooke was subbing Sammie's Primary class and right in the middle of a story Brooke was giving, a little boy says outloud, "Sammie, are you still going to marry me?" Sammie didn't hesitate. She said, "No, I've got somebody new, and his name starts with K." That's Sammie.
Sammie is gorgeous... just like her Mum!
PS I laughed hard at the no boy food ;-)
I really do love the bangs.
Payback!?! Remind me to stay on her good side.
I LOVE that you have a girl to do fun stuff with, though I dare say Sammie is lucky to have you as a mom.
Now you two go and eat some salad!
Ah she reminds me of Macey. Girls are hard in so many ways but I'm SO glad I have them. So glad you have Sammie- she is adorable.
love the bangs! you look great...and sammie is definitely a mini YOIU!!!
