When I was about 11, I slept over at my cousin Amy's house. We snuck over to her friend's house and watched "Dirty Dancing." It was amazing and awesome and I fell head over heels in love with Johnnie. I've probably seen the movie 20 times. "I carried a watermelon!" Such a good flick. And let's not forget that Patrick sang "She's like the wind" on the soundtrack. Still one of my favorite songs.
And then there was "Ghost." The relationship between Sam and Molly, the pottery wheel, the music..holy crap that was a good show.
Patrick Swayze was a class act. He had a wonderful 35 year relationship with his wife--unheard of by Hollywood standards. The world will miss his great acting and pecs.

"Nobody puts my baby in a corner!" was also another classic saying. Great guy!
I love love love Patrick and Dirty Dancing. It is a classic. I think I will stay in bed tomorrow and watch a little Dirty Dancing. Don't tell Jason.
I met Patrick Swayze at Sundance about 9 years ago and he was a class act. He signed me an autograph and chatted for a few minutes about how lovely Utah is (he was right).
It's sad when people, no matter who they are, die this young. Especially classy actors since we seem to be surrounded by nutter celebrities who do crazy, inappropriate things on live television.
Don't forget his epic SNL Chippendales audition with Chris Farley. Hilarious. He was a good guy.
I agree. He was a good guy...and I really liked his movies.
I, too, was sad to hear on the radio today that he had died. I was shocked that he was 58. I hate growing old, but it is especially hard to accept that all of these people from my tv world are also mortal.
"Nobody puts baby in the corner!"
I'm glad to hear that all you "young-uns" loved Patrick as much as I did!! I had a full-sized cardboard cut-out of him that I took to Jazzercise on special occasions. We put Patrick in the corner! (Until someone stole it.)
I think he's only about a year older than me. Way too young.
Truly broke my heart. I've probably seen Dirty Dancing 20 times. The dancing never gets old.
The pottery scene in Ghost still gets my blood racing.
I agree with Linda ...I'm glad there are intergenerational hotties!
Amen!
I do not remember sneaking out to see that movie at all! (I'm assuming you're talking about me) I must be really old to not remember such a memorable event!! I loved him too. That dang cancer is everywhere.
Oh, Johnny Castle. You live on in my heart--and my 2 DVD's of Dirty Dancing. What?? One is a "collector's edition," so it doesn't count.
Linda--there is a special place in hell for the person who stole Patrick. Their punishment will be watching Road House for eternity.
Vaya con Dios, Bodie!
