I am coming up on my one year blogging anniversary this month. Please don't send gifts--that would just be weird. I feel like I've been blogging forever. Lately, I've been considering leaving the blogging world entirely. But then I come to my senses and realize I'm just in a funk and need to snap out of it. I have met some really fun people this year through blogging. I have also reconnected with people from my past. I could go on and on about why I love blogging, but I will spare you. I won't be giving it up any time soon.
But I do want to say that I LOVE Fall. The picture at the top of this post was taken out my car window as we were driving up to Park City last week to do the Alpine slide. At the risk of sounding cheesy, I will say I have been all over this world and nothing takes my breath away like our mountains in the fall.
Last year, I told you how much I love the season. I love pulling out my good clothes again--do you all just wear crappy tees and shorts all summer like me? I love wearing jewelry and cute flats and jeans. I love the crisp air. I love having Luke in school allllll-day. The last few days he was out for fall recess and it dang near killed me (and he's my good kid!) To give you a little perspective--Sam came home with flowers yesterday just to say "thanks for not killing the kids." That's what I love about him--He's not a flowers on Valentines type, never has been. But he knows when to deliver and yesterday was that day. Then he said, "go to the mall." And I did and I felt better.
Look how forced Luke and Sammie's smiles are:
I also want to say how much I've been enjoying this little guy lately.
He's my little buddy. Even though he is only 19 months, he totally can make me laugh. He reminds me so much of his dad. Not only does he look just like Sam, but he walks and dances like Sam too. Sam taught him to love Flo-rida's "Low" and the kid has some serious moves. He also loves to give me spontaneous hugs and kisses and I'm grateful everyday for this chubby little boy.
If I'm talking about Ryan, I have to include this picture. He loves his sister's high heeled princess shoes and is pretty adept at getting around in them:
Sam will be thrilled to learn that his "mini-me" loves princess shoes. Speaking of my better half, Sam ran the St. George Marathon on Saturday. He went down with a buddy and I was at home with the kids all weekend (which probably contributed to my desperation by Monday.) Sam's a big guy and surprisingly fast despite his Clydesdale status. He finished with a good time, even though he battled serious leg cramps from about mile 16 until the end. I wish I could have been there to yell "Get the piano off your back!" at mile 21 but there's always next year.
This is not Sam and his buddy but it could have been because they had threatened to wear their medals down to the hot tub after the race.
So if you're still here, you deserve a medal. I should hit delete but I guess I'm going to hit publish and call it a night.

My life would be a little less bright if you were to call it quits. Thanks for sacrificing for the rest of us. We need silly and you give it. Luckily funks come and then they go. I hope your friend pulls through her stuff soon, too.
Your kids are adorable. (Mentally, I said 'adorable' in Spanish for added effect. Unfortunately, the spelling is same.)
I got the same "thanks for not killing the kids" flowers when Micah returned from his fishing trip. Wise choice, Sam and Micah. That's really when we needed flowers. I love that you got the added "go to the mall" bonus.
I've been in a funk too. My Sam is off track all month and I'm going a little crazy.
You have such adorable kids...that is why you need to keep up the blog. So we can see them! I appreciate it! I look forward to a smile every day from you and Ashley. Of course, Ashley is on vacation... that is ok. So am I! LOL I am in a I am NOT doing it if Stan tells me to mood! That is another story. Poor Stan.
I like this post.
don't leave the blogging world. Ash is already MIA...I could hardly stand it if you left too!
Love ya Brooke!!
Must be this time of year. Speaking of friends, we really need to get together sometime. I've been in Utah every other week it seems lately, but packed to the gills with family stuff. I need to plan a visit just to see you and Kimmie!! :-)
I LOVE the smiles on Luke and Sammy. SO funny!!
I am also happy to hear that another little boy likes to wear "girl" shoes. :) Jacob does not have a sister, but he does have a mother....he loves to get into my closet in the morning (while I am getting dressed) and pull out my shoes. You know, the ones I wore when I was single and didn't have a baby to tote around. :)
Way to go Sam!!
I've been missing your posts and am glad you're not giving it up. Every time a blogger says something like that I feel panicked.
I would much rather get flowers at a random time during the year than on a holiday. It's so sweet he brought you those and then sent you to the mall, what a man!
My sister ran the marathon as well...overachiever!
Nooo Brooke don't go!! You're blog makes me laugh and I need a good laugh once in a while.
Hey, just met a cute friend of yours here in VA at a party, Megan Johnson. Crazy, small world.
Oh Brooke! I totally agree with the Fall clothes. Claire and I got ready in 15 minutes flat to be out the door and off to drive to pre school and errands and even with that little of time our clothes looked better than 90% of the summer days!!
Luke looks a lot like Rex, doesn't he? If he has any of those Warner genes, you should get flowers every day!
Loved this post - love those kids!! Loved Ryan in the princess shoes. And kudos to Sam!!
Ashley said she "doesn't have anything to say." Anyone else not believing this line?? Ashley? Loss of words? Yeah right!
In any case--I hear ya. I had a few bad weeks, and I thought about not blogging. But, it helps me feel better and stay connected so I do it. Plus my sister (who was very sick) likes to read it and I wanted to have something waiting for her to catch up on when she got home from the hospital. So, I blog for her. :)
I am glad you didn't delete this because it was very funny. I sort of think that these are the types of posts people will be glad they wrote years from now because they capture the ordinary moment in time that will soon be gone, details a bit forgotten.
I totally agree with it all. Sam has the flower thing down, they are such a treat when unexpected, but deserved.
I love fall, not so much because of the weather (which is good), but the clothes. Jeans and layering tops make fall my favorite time of clothing.
Lisa
I used your gorgeous centerpieces for a baby shower this week. Thanks so much for the idea! Meant to credit you for them on my blog, but I was too busy showing pictures of all the bad food I made. :-)
NEVER QUIT BLOGGING!!! you give me my daily dose of humor...and it's heavy enough that it's all I need!
Post again already. Jeez.
brooke!
so glad I found you- through Kari- how funny! I'm gonna go back and read some of your favorite posts and I'm sure I'm gonna laugh TONS. Loved being a small part of your 100 list (freshman year, Jerusalem, Europe!)
I'm sorry this is the first time I've commented- I'm here now. You've been added to the reader.
glad that last pic is NOT your husband (although thanks for adding it- it's subtle and hilarious!)
