Big Baby

Remember Big Baby from Toy Story 3?

I have got one of my own. The kid turns 17 months this week. He doesn't talk (not a single word!), he doesn't walk, or hold his own bottle. Yes, he still takes a bottle every morning and evening and wants to be held in his glider like a newborn while he drinks it.

Yet, he can climb like a monkey:

He is off the charts for height and weight:

And gives the world's best smooches.

The last few times I have gone to the gym, I have found him back in the newborn room in a bassinet. The ladies tell me that is where he wants to be....big baby.

You can't tell he's my last can you?

Wow, not one word?! I guess being the 4th child means he doesn't have to speak, especially if he's still able to make his wishes known. I think he's onto something here.

seems that Cam was slow to speak too... I guess he must be a genius! You make such beautifu babies it is sad to think there will be no more. (and the next one was a girl) LOL

If he weren't so cute & cuddly and if he didn't give back such good lovin' he wouldn't be able to get away with it -- holding onto his babyhood!

He is such a beautiful little boy. Or should a say such a beautiful big baby. You say this is because he's your last, but I'm seeing this as a repeat of Dino as a (big) baby. Your guys just love clinging to their babyhood. And really who can blame them. They will be slaving away for the man before they know it--might as well enjoy the bassinet now! That picture of him kissing mom is the cutest.

My 26 month old still has a bottle and I don't care one bit. Better a bottle than a boob, right?

My baby didn't walk until 17 months and she was very quiet. that has all changed now--she's my terror! Hold onto the baby hood as long as he'll let you!

This is hilarious and I can totally see Mack doing the same thing. He won't put ANY weight on his legs at all and he's almost 6 months old. We hold him up and he just lets his legs hang there limp- he's totally going to be a big baby too. But I will take all the extra cuddles and babyhood as long as I can. Buster is SOOOO cute- his little face is to die for and his big kisses are so sweet!

Love the comments! I want to click "like" on each one--where's the like button when you need it?!

I love that you came up with this whole "Big Baby" post--and loved that you noted he "climbs like a monkey!" Lucky he's so dang cute! Good thing for that cuteness factor--I think that is what protected my kids most of the time from my wrath. ;) haha.

Hang onto the baby as long as you can--they grow up so fast! I have yet to see a Kindergartner go to school with a bottle! ha! (And yes, it could be worse!!)

He is so stinkin' cute. I know the climbing thing well. Grant climbs to the ceiling when I'm checking him into the gym by using the cubbies! (IDK how to spell that.) The pic of the dishwasher is all to familiar to me too. He should hang on to babyhood as long as he can. Life just goes downhill once you have to start wiping your own butt!

I wish he would stay the Big Baby forever! He is my favorite baby, and I am sure he will turn into my favorite toddler. I am excited to spend some time with him this week.

He's darling! I just did my baby boy's room in the same PB line as your quilts! I LOVE it!

I love that he wants to be in the bassinet. I laughed out loud at that. I love those smootches, too. What a cute little boy (I mean, big baby!) he is. He and Porter have just about everything in common except that Porter is small. It is nice to hear of another 17 month-er who isnt talking. He is your kid, so he will be smart and funny soon enough. Porter says "Bah!" and refers to everything else as "dah!" which I had enthusiastically thought was dog or dad, but it is just his only other word. Porter is still nursing during the night.

Your kids really are so so cute. They are like slight variations of each other, and all adorable.

He is so, so yummy. Let him hold on to babyhood. I wish I could. It's a good thing you are so in shape..he would break my arms. Wow, gorgeous kid.

All of the climbing pictures are cute, but that's a great picture of Mitchell climbing on the dishwasher. Did he climb up there to get his sippy cup?

The expression on his face is great too...he has a mischievous look but also seems quite pleased with himself for being able to get up there.

That picture of him on the bunk bed stairs is incredible. He's such a great climber! Damita isn't even close to climbing like that yet. Wow!

And one day Damita will appreciate the jump start on giving good kisses... :)

LOVE him!! Please reconsider his already arranged marriage...he and Brooklyn could make some BIG (and cute) BABIES!!!

Good heavens, girl. You've got to get that kid talking! But Big Baby doesn't need to talk. He can grunt and point.

I want a smooch from Big Baby. Can't you bring him along when you visit??

Haha. Just kidding. That would be the worst.

Ah I love it. Reading this post and seeing that cute dimply smile made me want to run and wake up my napping baby for some smooches right now! Makes me want to never do tummy time, or anything like it that could make her strong and mobile, so that my baby will stay a baby forever!
