Spring Fever

The minute January hits, I'm done with winter and I'm looking toward Spring. I know I have awhile to wait but how cute is Janie and Jack's new spring line? I have to have that outfit for Sammie. Ryan will be adorable in the coordinating boy version. Here's the dilema--is Luke too old to wear the plaid shorts and yellow shirt to church? He's 5 1/2 (going on 6 in the spring). I know my sister Ashley and my husband Sam will think he is. Please tell me he's not because I really want to buy it. Be honest.

Those outfits are adorable. I don't think it's too old 7 is too old.

I am so with you. The snow storm has put me in a deep depression.

I have the same dilemma with my Max. He is already 6, and I've decided he is too old for shorts at church. But you're the mom. And if you want to put him in shorts, then by all means...

I really shouldn't weigh in on this one, b/c I have no experience in boys clothes. I will say this though. There is a darling boy in my ward (will be 6 this year) who rocks shorts, knee high socks and sweater vests. He is, quite possibly, the CUTEST thing I've ever seen. I want to eat him up.
So I say, DO IT! (and then post pictures!)

Go for it!!! I would say it's fine as long as he doesn't get beat up in Primary. If all is clear, run with it. I love boys in plaid!

If you were in St.George he would be odd to wear long pants. ...8 is to old. When you get baptized you switch to the suit.

such cute clothes!

Age is irrelevant when it comes to plaid shorts. Negets. Assuming age were relevant, he is too old...so let it be written, so let it be said.

BUY IT BUY IT BUY IT...milk it as long as you can...before you know it he will be in concert t-shirts and ripped jeans. I think it is adorable...plus my mom always dressed my brother very nice and to this day he is a polo shirt kind of guy (and not in a dweeby dorky kind of way!)

I love the outfits...might have to get the dress for my 3 year old!

This is definintly tricky! Landon would say NO WAY! I'm kinda on the fence. I love matching clothes for my kids, especially on a holiday, but you don't want to cross the line. The outfits are adorable and great for your younger two. I think I'd have say no to Luke, but only because Landon wouldn't let me get away with it. That' alot of help, huh??

I am with you on the spring thing. Jan. 1 I start in on swimsuits and Easter clothes!

How does Luke feel about it? In California he would get beaten up in Primary, but Utah could be different. If he's okay with it, then there's no problem. I stopped dressing Jon when he was about 5, then picked it up again when he returned from his mission.

I love the new Janie and Jack line. Have you checked out the Daisy collection from Gymboree. I love it, but yellow isn't a great color on Bailey, so I went with the Ladybug outfit - jeans, sweater, and shoes. It's adorable.

I love, love, love Janie and Jack, but I'm sorry, I am just going to be honest and say I think 5 going on 6 is too old for the plaid shorts at church. (At least for my 5 year-old going on 6 in the spring!!!) But I am non-judgmental, so if you post pictures of him wearing it, I won't say a word! ;)

You've spoken. Luke is too old for shorts at church--especially tailored plaid ones with a yellow shirt. It just gives me more money to spend on Sammie. Poor Luke, I tried to dress him in pink polos to coordinate with Sammie until he was 4 and he told me pink is for girls and refused to wear the shirt. He usually never notices what I put him in but I'm not going to humiliate him this time!!

No way is 5 1/2 too old. I plan to keep Jack lederhosen as long as possible. Skinny boys legs can wear plaid and really no one else, but old men and golfers. Give the boy style for sure!

PS I love Janie & Jack so I am more than a little biased.

There's an unwritten rule about tailored shorts at church? Is my confusion due to the fact that I don't have kids yet, and never notice what they're wearing?

I say go for it--that outfit is so cute!

I don't think it's as clear cut as you suggested I would. I think the main thing is whether Luke looks like a cute little boy in preppy church shorts, or whether he looks like some lurpy big kid in a diaper. It could go either way, so I'd have to see it to judge. Like the Supreme Court and obscenity.

However, I think the look may be a bit casual for him for church. Esp. since plaid bermudas have become commonplace casual attire. Unless you are planning on wearing a coordinating polo shirt over a springy skirt with flipflops.

By the way I have no will to comment on all your previous posts, but I loved your anniversary one and Sam's comment was sweet. I remember the first time I met him (at Liberty Square when I was down there trying out for the Hinckley Scholarship) and like Mom said he won us all over with the fruit pizza.
