Like Father, Like Son

I LOVE to coordinate my kids, especially on the big holidays like Easter and Christmas.

Some would say that last Easter I went too far. I got the husband in on the action. He wasn't thrilled about the matching sweater vest (from Gymboree no less) but he begrudgingly put it on and headed to church. I didn't go to church that day because Ryan (who is coordinating with the others but didn't actually go to church) was a newborn and I was staying home with him.

When Sam got home, he told me people (especially other men) gave him total grief about coordinating with Luke. However, Luke thought it was the coolest thing ever to match his dad. So the question is: Do I force Sam to wear the matching vest to church again on Easter? Last year I justified buying Sam the matching vest because I bought Luke's big and he is wearing it again this year and Ryan has one as well--a threesome!!

Have I gone too far. Will Sam leave me if I make him coordinate?

I am afraid that Sam will leave you if you try to coordinate. The kids are fine, but I think adding him on the mix might be too much. Just my thoughts! I would probably give him crap too:)

Oooh, I say one father/son matchy is enough unless it is a sporty event or Halloween costume given how much Luke loved it. Maybe PJs is a better, less public route to take. I am not even going to tell Mr. R about this post (Did I mention we occasionally debate your thoughts) to avoid your loss of street cred.

A. You can never go too far.

I agree with Ash...this is not even CLOSE to going to far.
They must match.

Ha! ha! ha! You kill me! I say go for it. Those who mock are probably JEALOUS! BTW, when do we get to see those new easter pictures?...I'm in total suspense!

I have to say Landon would kill me if I made him match with Colton. Maybe a coordinating tie?? But never the same thing! I'm impressed that Sam went for it last year.

You make phone calls for him, he wears the vest--its really quite simple.

That is some classic material. Sam coordinated with Luke in Easter pastels--in a sweater vest no less! This year you should get him a fucia turtleneck with a bird stitched on the front.

Hey... I say if Sam agrees to wear it then.. by all means have him wear it. I promise I won't say anything negative to him at church. (I can't promise the same from Brian. :)

They really did look cute last year and all the boys matching... do it while you can. This is the first year that abbie-kate and emma won't be matching or even color coordinated. I cried.

I think Sam would think anything involving three-some would be awesome. I love the matching too. I can't wait to see what the decision is tom. BTW that was so sweet of Sam. JR was lovingly teasing him about it.

There's no better way to emasculate your husband than to make him wear clothes that match his kids'. If Sam's not going to stop this sort of thing from happening, though, then I say he deserves it. So hit him again!

Umm, that person below, I think "Mark" is his name, umm, I am not sure how he found out about this particular post as no one in our home mentioned it to him... your blog might have accidentally been left up on the computer by some random visitor. Happens at your place too, huh?

This keeps getting worse. I'll be sure to log in as myself next time...

I love it and I think he should pick what they wear. For instance, my husband and my boys all have cowboy hats, blue sweatshirts and old nasty jeans on today per my husband's choice. But they coordinate, and it makes both of us happy. ;) Give a little, take a little I say! Love your blog and your cutie patootie matching kiddos! I can't wait til tomorrow when all my kids will be natchy matchy too! :)

I love last year's photo! I say at least ask for it again this year. . . get one more year for your $$. Although if Sam refuses, you've still got Luke & Ryan matching. That should make Luke happy.
BTW, when I saw the title of this post I totally thought it was going to be about Luke & Sam both LOVING riding bikes. (another blog for another day??)

What a great man you have, but I think you should give him a break this year. He'll never hear the end of it if he goes to church like that again!

Matching kids is the cutest though. I'm excited to see your new photos!

A few years ago, I never would have guessed that I would wear pastel colors to church, especially in some match-the-kids scheme, but then two things happened.

First, church became uber boring. The meetings are so monotonous I was willing to do anything to spice it up. You know what I'm talking about..."Who brought their manual?" or another favorite..."The Stake Presidency loves you." (That one is for you Brian).

Second, and more importantly, my son gets a kick out of it. It is pretty fruity, I know, but do I really care what Brother What's-His-Name thinks? If I am not worried about my home teaching stats, am I going to lose sleep about the vest? I am comfortable in my masculinity. Don't hate the player, hate the game.

P.S. Rex, aren't you the guy who still sleeps with his baby blanket?

Rex and Sam's comments are classic. By the way, my boys will both be wearing those vests tomorrow and will wear them to Utah tomorrow night. I wish Tyler had one!
